البيرلايت هو معدن بركاني طبيعي وخفيف الوزن يُستخدم لتحسين تهوية وتصريف التربة. عند تعريضه للحرارة يتمدد ليصبح حبيبات بيضاء مسامية تساعد على تفكيك التربة الثقيلة وتحسين دوران الهواء حول الجذور.
